Shannon is the founder and owner of Urban Waxx. A New Jersey girl at heart, Shannon moved to Portland (by way of Charleston, SC and LA), in January 2007. After 10 years of working in spas and salons all around the country, she opened her dream business: a wax only salon with an over the top customer service philosophy.

While not fixating on how to make Urban Waxx the best waxing salon on the planet, Shannon is a wife to Cody and full time mom to Stella and Dino. What relaxes her? Radiohead, red wine, and reality TV!

Mindy is the "Dear Abby" of Urban Waxx. She always has great advice for her guests and her team and she keeps secrets locked up in a vault. She even wears the key around her neck! When she's not giving lightning fast waxing with a dash of irreverent humor, she's planning her next trip to an exotic locale. What adventures make her tingle? Lounging on a Fiji beach for a month or teaching in South Africa...just to name a few! Mindy is a newlywed, and she loved to explore Oregon (especially the wine country) with her new husband, Phil.

Don't be fooled by Jenny's sweet as pie exterior: she's a fiercely independent woman who knows what she wants. Jenny always has suggestions for how to make the biz run better. Updated website? Jenny's idea. Mimosas on Sunday? Yep, Jenny's idea. Jenny can't live without coffee, Youtube and her kitties and her dream is to be celebrity waxer to the stars! If you're currently not a celebrity, don't worry! Jenny works hard to make every guest red carpet ready.

Beth (or Betty as she's affectionately known) is our resident brow guru. Her background in graphic design and animation has helped her to perfect even the most unruly eyebrow into a well-sculpted arch. Don't believe me? Check out her blog at http://bethbrows.blogspot.com. When she's not waxing she's spending time with her new husband, Rich. These NJ transplants love to check out everything that Portland has to offer, especially the music scene. Beth has style for miles, and if we were to write a book about her it would be titled: "Original Hipster."

If Urban Waxx has a Cheering Squad, Adriana is the Captain. She greets every day with a sunny smile and ends every shift with: "Thanks for a great day!" Adriana is always ready to help out her team and our guests, and that zeal for giving makes her invaluable at Urban Waxx. Passionate about all things involving skincare, Adriana's dream is to change the Esthetics industry with involvement with national and state Esthetics groups.

Crafts, cats, and all things fashion are just some of the things that make this gal swoon. Megan is a fierce fashionista, and she makes any outfit look like she's hitting the runway. At heart, she's a homebody, and she loves to create, clean, and play house with her photographer boyfriend Mark McInnis (he took the pics on this very website!) Megan also has an unbelievable singing voice, a devoted circle of friends and family (and Facebook fans), and a love of cleanliness and order that borders on the obsessive.

By day, Alix rocks the wax pot. By night, she hits hard and heavy as Layla Smackdown, a blocker in the Rose City Rollers, Portland's own Roller Derby League. Alix has an infectious laugh and a wry sense of humor that immediately puts our guests at ease. When Alix is not at Urban Waxx performing meticulous waxing, she's playing with her dog, Bonz and dreaming up chapters in her autobiography. What's the title, you ask? "Escape from Long Island: The (Mis) adventures of a Jewish American Princess."

Becky may seem a little quiet at first, but trust us: she's a sassy little firecracker who loves to laugh. Becky has a deep love for all things pink, sparkly, and covered in glitter, and an unwavering passion for childhood eats (think Happy Meals, Capri Sun, and Goldfish). Becky is like a brunette Malibu Barbie who loves house music and Lady Gaga! She can whip through a waxing appointment in a flash, and always has a sweet smile for our guests.

Katie is the Urban Waxx version of the gluten-free Martha Stewart. She thrives doing all things domestic: cooking, sewing, gardening, and most of all crafting. What makes this crafty lady happy? Music (most notably Coldplay and Dave Matthews), Mojitos, and Brie cheese...and of course her husband Mat! This Southern Orgeon native is also the proud Mama of Delilah, her Chihuahua-min-pin mix, and she loves to spoil her rotten!

Need some make-up advice while you're getting your monthly wax? Well, Carly is the gal for you. Her years as an Esthetician and make-up artist (2 with MAC Cosmetics), have honed her love of all things girly. When she's not waxing she's spending time with her boo, Gerdy, checking out the Portland food and drink scene. Her favorite: Screen Door. Another tidbit about Carly: she has moves that give Justin Timberlake a run for his money. Need proof? She won the Urban Waxx dance contest!

At first glance Rebecca appears to be rather serious, but she is actually a completely self-deprecating goofball. When she's not ridding the Northwest of hair, she's getting rowdy with her hilarious Westie, Desmond, and her boyfriend Adam. Travel, great food and tasty cocktails are just a few things that Rebecca loves. If there was a movie made about her, we think Parker Posey with her quirky sense of humor would play her to a tee!

What makes this saucy vixen smile? Goats! Well, her two dwarf goats, Botox and Lipo. With names like that you might be able to guess that Gretchen loves a good laugh. You can witness her sassy personality when she's doing volunteer work with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Gretchen has been an Esthetician for over 17 years, and with that much experience, she's really been able to let her deeply creative roots flourish.

Erin is our sweet Southern Belle. Recently transplanted from Mississippi, this Demi Moore lookalike has a gentle disposition and a heart of gold. Erin's drawl and easy conversation will lull you into a state of comfort as she whisks those pesky hairs away. Free time is spent exploring Portland with the two men in her life: her husband Patrick and their son Gavin. Their most recent discovery: the Oregon Coast! Y'all ain't in Mississippi anymore!

Michelle has a winning personality and an easy smile that makes her such a pleasure to be around. Although she's a San Diego native, she has fallen in love with the Portland food and Farmer's Market scene. When she's not scoping out the town's freshest produce, she's making Portland beautiful, one set of lashes at a time! She has an amazing eyelash extension business, www.iluvlashes.com. Although she dreamed of being a dancer (everything from ballerina to Solid Gold) when she was a kid, we are so glad she chose waxing instead!

Tasney is our resident heavy metal listening, dirty martini drinking, Mexican food loving, motorcycle mama! That's right! This Scappoose, OR native was a sales manager at a motorcycle dealership before she decided to trade in her helmet and boots for a wax pot! She has two teeny roommates (Betty and Trixie, her mini doxies), and when she's not putting our guests at ease she is playing golf or watching football!

This Florida transplant (by way of Arizona), recently traded in the sunshine for the rolling hills of the Oregon wine country, where she lives with her husband David. When she's not giving a fantastic Brazilian wax, she's exploring the countryside with her golden retriever Biscuit, or snuggling up at home to her Siamese cat Ramses. She spends her spare time hiking and checking out local restaurants, and reading about her favorite topics: health and science. Her dream is to explore Europe and Egypt. No wonder her cat is named after an Egyptian pharaoh!
